It should be noted the software that does this had ALL teams equally ranked to start the season. The first rankings are done 25 days into the season, and the computer and PowerBase software used to do these rankings after each day’s games have concluded replays the prior 24 days of games plus the current day based on new information not known at the time those games were originally played. The rankings here as a result may be considerably different from rankings elsewhere and seeds can be considerably higher or lower than they are elsewhere.

BYU due to religious beliefs must be slotted in a Thursday-Saturday regional (Indianapolis or Los Angeles) and before it a Thursday-Saturday sub-regional. BYU is not allowed to play on Sundays and is why the west regional is always Thursday-Saturday.
Houston must play in the Midwest or West regional because they are the host school for the South Regional.
Creighton must play in a Thursday-Saturday sub-regional because they host a Friday-Sunday sub-regional
Oklahoma State and Texas Tech both were dropped one seed line because Big 12 schools were on the 1 or 8 line in all four regions and they can’t play any of them until at least the regional semifinals. Wisconsin and Iowa were moved up one seed line as a result.
The University of St. Louis can play in the St. Louis sub-regional because they are NOT the host school for that sub-regional
Butler University can play in the Midwest Regional because they are NOT the host school for that regional.
Gonzaga can play in a Spokane sub-regional because they are NOT the host school for that sub-regional AND it’s NOT their primary home floor.
Dayton can play in the “first four” on their home floor and is the only allowable such instance.
